Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what we don't do with it.
Last updated: May 13, 2026
Plain-English summary: We collect the information needed to deliver your CE course and report completion to DBPR. We don't sell your data, share it with marketers, or use it for anything beyond running the business and meeting Florida CE reporting requirements.
1. Who we are
CodeUpdateRVA, LLC, operating as CodeUpdateFL in Florida ("we"). Domain: codeupdateFL.com. Contact: hello@CodeUpdateFL.com.
2. What we collect
Information you give us
- Marketing site forms (waitlist, contact): your email address, optionally your license class, message text, and the subject line of your inquiry.
- Course purchase & account: your name, email, billing address, license number, license class, and renewal-cycle state. Payment data (card number) is processed by our payment processor and is never stored on our servers.
- Course activity: which Topics you viewed, time spent on each, quiz answers, attempt timestamps, and completion status.
Information collected automatically
- Standard server logs: IP address, user agent, referrer, page accessed, timestamp. Used for security and debugging.
- Cookies: a session cookie to keep you logged in on the learning platform, and a CSRF protection cookie. No advertising or tracking cookies.
- Analytics (if enabled): aggregated, anonymized page views and traffic-source data via Google Analytics or a privacy-respecting alternative. No cross-site tracking.
3. Where it lives
- Marketing site (codeupdateFL.com): hosted on Vercel. Waitlist and contact form submissions are written to a Neon Postgres database in the AWS US-East region.
- Learning platform (learn.codeupdateFL.com): WordPress + LearnDash + WooCommerce on a managed WP host. Stores your account, course progress, quiz attempts, certificates, and order history.
4. Why we collect it
- To deliver the course you purchased and verify you completed it
- To report your CE completion to DBPR within 10 business days, as required by Florida law
- To send you transactional email (receipts, course access, completion certificates)
- To send launch notifications if you opted into the waitlist
- To respond when you contact us
- To investigate fraud, abuse, or technical issues
5. Who we share it with
- DBPR / MyFloridaLicense / ECLB Provider Portal: your name, license number, course title, hours, and completion date when we report your CE. This is required by Florida law.
- Payment processor: card data goes directly to them; we receive only the order confirmation and the last 4 digits of the card for receipts.
- Service providers (Vercel, Neon, our WP host, our email sender): only the data needed to run the service. Each is under a written data-processing arrangement.
We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't rent your email list.
6. How long we keep it
- Waitlist signups: until you unsubscribe, or 24 months of inactivity, whichever is sooner.
- Contact form messages: 24 months after the conversation closes.
- Course completion records: 4 years after the completion date, as DBPR may audit provider records during that window.
- Order & payment records: 7 years, to meet financial recordkeeping requirements.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what we have about you (access)
- Correct anything that's wrong (rectification)
- Delete your data, subject to legal retention obligations (erasure)
- Stop sending you marketing email (opt-out)
- Provide a copy of your data in a portable format (portability)
Email hello@CodeUpdateFL.com with the request. We'll respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Our services are not directed to anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We use TLS encryption everywhere data is in transit. Passwords are hashed. Payment data never touches our servers. We follow industry practice for application security, but no service is 100% secure — if a breach affects you, we'll notify you per Florida law.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be communicated by email to active customers.
