Approvals & licensing

Are CodeUpdateFL courses DBPR-approved?
We're completing DBPR provider approval ahead of the August 31, 2026 CILB biennial deadline. Live approval numbers will be posted to the Credentials page the moment they're issued, and we'll email everyone on the waitlist on the same day.
Which Florida boards do CodeUpdateFL courses cover?
We build for three boards under DBPR:
  • CILB — Construction Industry Licensing Board (HVAC, Mechanical, Plumbing contractors)
  • ECLB — Electrical Contractors' Licensing Board
  • FBC — Building Code Administrators & Inspectors
I hold multiple licenses. Do I have to take CE twice?
For multi-license CILB holders (e.g., Class A AC + Mechanical), the same 14-hour CE package satisfies all CILB licenses you hold — you take 14 hours once per biennium. Cross-board (e.g., CILB + ECLB) requires separate CE for each board.

Course format

How long does a course actually take?
Florida CE rules require a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction per credit hour. Our courses are timer-enforced — the Mark Complete button is locked until the cumulative timer hits 50 minutes per credit. A 14-hour course takes a minimum of 700 minutes total. Most students finish in roughly that time plus 1–2 minutes per quiz question.
Is there a proctor or live component?
No. All CodeUpdateFL courses are self-paced and Internet-delivered. Engagement is verified via the timer, per-Topic checks, and the lesson assessment. No webcam, no scheduled session.
What devices work?
Any modern browser on desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. We test against Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on both desktop and mobile. Progress syncs across devices once you log in.
Do I have to finish in one sitting?
No — pick it up where you left off. Your timer, Topic completions, and quiz progress all save automatically. The course remains in your account for the full renewal biennium.

Completion & reporting

How do I get my certificate?
Pass the final lesson quiz at 70% or higher and the certificate generates immediately in your account. You can download it as a PDF — but you typically don't need to, because we report your completion directly to DBPR.
How does DBPR reporting work?
We upload your completion record, timestamps, and certificate ID to MyFloridaLicense (CILB) or the ECLB Provider Portal within 10 business days of course completion — typically the same day. You'll see the hours reflected in your DBPR account, then you renew your license through DBPR as you normally would.
What if I fail the quiz?
Retake it. Failed attempts are logged for audit purposes but don't cost you anything extra. You can review the missed Topics and try again as many times as needed.

Payments & refunds

What does the price cover?
One CodeUpdateFL course package covers the full biennial CE requirement for its target license class. No add-ons, no per-hour unlocks. Mandatory hours (Workplace Safety, Workers' Comp, Business Practices, Laws & Rules, Advanced FBC) are bundled with the trade-specific code-update content.
Do you offer refunds?
Full refund within 7 days of purchase if you haven't completed more than 25% of the course. Once you've completed enough of the course to be reported to DBPR, refunds aren't possible — the credit has been awarded. Full details on the Refund Policy page.
